Athletic event for youth that encourages the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition.

A Higher Purpose

Provide an athletic outlet for young people ages 9 to 14 through penalty kick competition designed for players to demonstrate their skills. Start sponsoring a competition by ordering a Soccer Challenge Kit, or volunteer to host and/or support the district, regional and state/province championships.

Overview

The Lincoln Knights of Columbus Council 9202 is hosting the 2026 KOC Soccer Challenge on Friday, September 11th, at the Foskett Ranch Park soccer field. This is a “Penalty Kick Soccer Competition” for BOYS and GIRLS ages 9-14, and is free to all participants. Each year, the Lincoln Knights of Columbus donates to the LYSC to support scholarships for those in need. We are asking LYSC coaches & parents to support the Knights by encouraging their soccer players to participate in our local council competition.

 How does the KOC Soccer Challenge work? First, the soccer goals are roped off into 5 zones with 5-10-20 point values assigned based on the difficulty of the PK shot. Secondly, each participant gets 15 shots from the PK spot. The boy and girl in each age group with the highest total points will win the “Council Champion Certificate” and move on to the District Soccer Challenge competition for the chance to move on to the Chapter, State, and International Soccer Challenge competition. In 2024, LYSC Ryder Maus, 12 was the International Champion and in 2023, LYSC Josiah Warkocki, 11, and Mason Denzler, 13, were awarded the State Soccer Challenge Champion Trophy.

 More information on our 9/11/26 Council Soccer Challenge is furnished below:

● Ages 9, 10 & 11: Check-in 4:30 PM Competition begins at 5 PM

● Ages 12, 13 & 14: Check-in 5:15 PM Competition begins at 5:45 PM

● Player age grouping is based on his/her age as of September 1, 2026.

 Please bring a “COPY of your son or daughter’s birth certificate,” which we will attach to the registration form.

NOTE: Council 9202 winners will be eligible to participate in the District 5 KOC Soccer Challenge in October in Auburn, CA.
